Dr Stephenie Pagoudis

Dr Stephenie Pagoudis is a Lecturer in Psychology at James Cook University. She received her PhD from The University of Adelaide. Her research interests are broadly in the field of social psychology, with a special interest in romantic relationships and how people experience and perceive power and body image within them. As a keen educator, she is also interested in the field of educational psychology and undertakes research using both qualitative and quantitative methods.

Marc Chao

Marc is a Lecturer in Psychology at the College of Healthcare Sciences. His research focuses on global consciousness, mindfulness-based interventions, critical thinking in the detection of misinformation, and associative learning in human behaviour. His PhD examined learning across multiple contexts in classical and instrumental conditioning, with implications for the persistence of first-learned associations. Marc is also passionate about research-informed teaching and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Brian Law

Originally from Singapore, Brian is a senior lecturer and Course Coordinator of the Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Bridging) program at James Cook University, and a member of the Psychology of Active, Healthy Living (PAHL) group. Brian has a keen interest in research that can have direct benefits to the community including online communities. His current pursuits are in digital mental health and online education.

Alison Sheaves

Alison is a lecturer in psychology who has been teaching into the JCU program since 2017. Based in North Queensland and a JCU graduate herself, Alison is passionate about the value of regionally grounded education and the unique strengths of students from diverse backgrounds. She teaches across a range of subjects in the online psychology program, with expertise in social and environmental psychology. Her research span professional identity development, science communication, environmental attitudes and behaviours, research integrity, and qualitative research methods.

Clinton Knight is a social and political psychologist with work and interests grounded in intergroup processes, social cognition, and individual differences.

Specific interests include:

  • Acquisition and development of political and religious ideologies
  • System legitimising biases including patriotism and nationalism, collective consciousness, apathy and insight blindness.
  • Prejudice and ex-offender reintegration
  • Psychology of collective action, conflict and terrorism

Madelyn Pardon

Ms Madelyn Pardon is a Lecturer in Psychology at the College of Healthcare Sciences. Ms Pardon's primary research interest is on water security and threat perceptions. Her PhD research is focused on how individuals perceive water and how this perception influences water conservation behaviour. Additionally, Ms Pardon has also worked on various other projects, including the relationship between Student's in Nursing/Midwifery roles and work-integrated learning, and the impact of medically unexplained symptoms on ED re-presentations (a project run at the Townsville University Hospital).

Dr Klaire Somoray

Dr Klaire Somoray is a Lecturer in Psychology at the College of Healthcare Sciences. They completed their PhD at the Queensland University of Technology, within the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety Queensland (CARRS-Q). Dr Somoray has a diverse research portfolio. Due to their primary expertise in statistical modelling and quantitative research methodologies, they have been involved in different research projects, including research on traffic psychology, workplace health, safety and wellbeing, and criminology.

Dr Charlie Fontaine is a lecturer in Psychology, within the College of Healthcare Sciences. They received their PhD from the University of Warwick, exploring resilience in adolescent mental health - determining resilience factors for bullied LGBTQI adolescents and the role of anxiety and worry in school transition for young adolescents.
